2019 Year in Review

Our Podiatrists at Foot Health Clinic are always looking for ways to develop new skills to help our patients remain active and healthy.

Oliver, Kim & Granville have enjoyed an amazing year learning the latest in podiatry care from experts in many diverse fields. This is a small glimpse into their year in review:

Oliver

Oliver has extended his expertise in manual therapies this year by completing advanced training in ''Foot Mobilisation Techniques'' held over 4 days at the superb Byron on Byron Resort in beautiful Byron Bay. Apart from enjoying the relaxing resort environment, spa, organic food and daily yoga, Oliver managed to make some time to learn the latest joint mobilisation and manipulation techniques, including the use of tool-assisted massage (or TAM). Oliver continues to expand his knowledge and clinical expertise in physical therapy for the treatment of foot, ankle and leg pain or injuries.

Kim

Kim has been busy this year completing her Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training with the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation (BIYOME). Kim has enjoyed the benefits of regular yoga practice for many years and decided to deepen her knowledge of yoga practice by completing the teacher training course. Kim's year of yoga immersion has incorporated studies in yoga philosophy, yogic breathing techniques, neuroscience, asana practice, meditation, yoga for pain and yoga nidra. Kim was also fortunate enough to attend a 3 day workshop with renowned New Zealand yoga therapist, Donna Farhi, on pelvic stability, sacroiliac joint pain and lower back pain. In November, Kim attended a 3 day Éxplain Pain' conference at the Brisbane Convention Centre , learning the latest in neuroscience in relation to the patient's experience of pain. A wonderful, fulfilling year gaining new knowledge to help our patients stay active and healthy!

Granville

Granville enjoys treating our younger patients in the clinic and this year has completed a paediatric workshop with specialist paediatric podiatrist, Dr. Alicia James. The workshop incorporated training in paediatric history taking, case studies, toe walking and all things to do with children's foot problems. Granville is looking forward to applying his new knowledge in paediatric podiatry during the Back-To- School season this January, when we will be seeing kids for foot posture check-ups and school shoe fittings. Helping kids stay happy, active and healthy!
