Heel Pain

Most common reason to see Podiatrist

Heel pain is one of the most common reasons people see a podiatrist, but its exact cause can be difficult to determine.

The podiatrists at Foot Health Clinic have years of experience in diagnosing and treating the causes of heel pain, including the use of orthotic therapy and footwear modification.
Please contact us to discuss your heel pain.

  • Achilles Tendinopathy - Achilles Tendinopathy (also known as Achilles Tendonitis) is a gradually developing and often painful inflammation or degeneration of the Achilles Tendon. This large tendon is located at the back of your leg and joins your calf muscle to your heel.
  • Heel Spurs - A heel spur is a bony protrusion that develops beneath the heel bone. Bony spurs often develop in areas where there is excessive tension, or pulling force, on a bone where soft tissues attach to it.
  • Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy - Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy (also known as Insertional Achilles Tendonitis) refers to inflammation, compression and pain occurring at the back of the heel at the point where the Achilles tendon inserts onto the heel bone.
  • Plantar Fasciitis - One of the most common causes of heel pain, Plantar Fasciitis or better known as a ‘heel spur’ is a painful inflammation of the soft, ligament-like tissue attached to the base of your heel bone and supporting the arch of your foot.
  • Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome - Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome is a similar condition to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This condition is caused by irritation of the tarsal nerve that travels on the inside of the ankle, behind the ankle bone.
