Tinea
Tinea, also known as Tinea Pedis and Athlete’s Foot, is a fungal infection of the skin of the feet that causes scaling, flaking and itching in affected areas.
Because fungus grows best in a moist environment, it is important when treating Tinea to both kill the fungus and take steps to keep your feet dry. Steps you can take at home are: wash your feet every day with an anti-fungal soap; after drying your feet, apply a foot antiperspirant; wash your feet again before bed and apply an anti-fungal cream; use a shoe deodorant in your shoes; alternate your shoes – never wear the same pair two days in a row; avoid cotton socks, as cotton holds moisture next to your skin, and try socks with moisture-wicking properties instead.
If the above steps do not provide relief, or you suffer a recurrence of Tinea, contact us.
